FAQs
Who can be a member?
Membership is open to any independent who (1) operates 500 or fewer screens, (2) represents no more than 2 percent of the domestic box office, (3) and is not publicly traded or owned by a major content supplier.
Alliance members operate cinemas that range in size from single-screen venues in small towns to multiplexes in larger cities. While many of our members operate just one location, others operate multiple locations across the nation. Regardless of the size of the member, we share one common goal: To provide a voice that tackles challenges and promotes the importance of independent cinemas to a healthy and vibrant cinema industry.
What are the dues?
These are challenging times for the movie theater industry—especially for independent cinema owners and their employees. As an Alliance formed by independents for independents, ICA’s Board of Directors understands the extraordinary and unprecedented challenges facing our industry. We hope this helps you stay connected with your community of indie peers as we navigate this unprecedented shutdown together.
Industry & Government Relations
As a sector of the industry that generates more than $2 billion in annual sales and represents over 20 percent of the North American box office, it is important for independents to have representation from Hollywood to Washington.
Through strategic advocacy and initiatives, ICA communicates with leading industry stakeholders to promote innovative pro-independent cinema solutions. We also educate and inform public policymakers of the value small business movie theaters bring to communities across America.
Programs and Resources
In addition to playing a direct role in shaping the future of the independent cinema industry, you and your employees enjoy exclusive programs and resources specifically designed for independents to help grow your business.
